news & opinion with no titillating non-news from the major non-news channels.

I am: progressive, not a wild-eyed Progressive; liberal, but shun liberals and Liberals; conservative, but some Conservatives worry me; absolutely NOT a libertarian. I am: an idealist, but no utopian; a pragmatist, but no Machiavellian. I am a realist who dreams.

I welcome all opinions.

The Arcane and Inane:
   1,000th Person Executed in U.S. Since 1977

AP reports from Raleigh, North Carolina,

A double murderer who said he didn't want to be known as a number became the 1,000th person executed in the United States since capital punishment resumed 28 years ago.

I fully appreciate that even "Poor Richard" published almanacs of facts and figures, but this is ridiculous.
